How it works
- A countdown notification comes first, 60 seconds unless you change it, up to 10 minutes, and 0 signs out at once.
- Cancel on the notification stops it; the step succeeds and reports that it was cancelled.
- Apps may ask to save; the advanced "close apps even with unsaved work" option signs out anyway.
Routines that use it
Shared PC time limit
At 21:00 an At a time routine shows Show banner "Signing out soon" and then Sign out with a 5-minute countdown.
Idle sign-out
When Idle fires after 30 minutes on a family PC, Sign out so the next person gets their own desktop.
End of shift
A hotkey closes work apps with Close app and signs out.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Countdown | How long the notification counts down before it happens (0 = at once). Cancel on the notification stops it. |
| Forceadvanced | Close apps even when they have unsaved work. Off: apps can ask to save, and Windows waits for an answer. |
Good to know
- With the force option on, unsaved work in open apps can be lost.
Questions
- What's the difference between sign out and lock?
- Lock keeps your apps running behind the lock screen. Sign out closes them and ends your session.
- Can I sign out automatically after being idle?
- Yes. Use the Idle trigger with the time you want and a Sign out step, ideally with a countdown.
