KeyRoutines

Windows automation for gamers: set up every session in one key

KeyRoutines prepares your PC around your games: one key or the game starting opens your launchers and Discord, switches to your headset, raises the power plan, starts the OBS replay buffer and quiets notifications. It never sends keys or clicks into games, and its game-safe mode turns off input, overlays and screen reading while an anti-cheat game is running.

Sound familiar?

Ten clicks before every session

Open Steam, open Discord, find the right voice channel, switch to the headset, start OBS. By the time it's set up, your friends are already in the lobby.

Things stay in gaming mode afterwards

The power plan is still on High performance, HDR is still on and the desktop looks washed out, and Spotify never came back on.

Popups at the worst moment

A reminder or a chat ping lands right in the middle of a ranked match.

Worried about anti-cheat

Most automation tools can press keys and read the screen, which is exactly what anti-cheat looks for. You want something that stays out of the game.

Routines to build

One key for the whole session

A hotkey opens your launcher and Discord, waits until they're really loaded, puts Discord on the second monitor, switches to your headset and shows a banner when you're ready.

Performance while you play

When a game starts, switch to High performance; when it closes, go back to Balanced.

Clips without thinking

Game started opens OBS, waits until it's connected and starts the replay buffer; Game stopped stops it.

Music pauses, then comes back

Pause Spotify when a game starts, but only if it was playing, and resume it when you quit.

HDR only for HDR games

Turn HDR on for the games that support it and off again when they close, so the desktop stays in SDR.

Discord follows your headset

As a game starts, move Windows and Discord to the headset and switch Discord to push to talk; put both back when you're done.

The HDR and Discord routines need KeyRoutines Pro; game triggers, audio switching, power plans, media control, OBS outputs and window layouts are free.

Questions

Does KeyRoutines play games for me?
No. KeyRoutines only sets up things around your games, such as apps, audio, windows, power and OBS. It never sends keys or clicks into a game, and it isn't built to play games.
Is KeyRoutines safe to use with anti-cheat games?
It's built to stay away from them. While a game protected by Easy Anti-Cheat, BattlEye, Vanguard, Ricochet or FACEIT is running, game-safe mode refuses key presses, clicks and screenshots near the game, and banners wait until it's no longer in front. It can't promise how a given anti-cheat treats other software on your PC.
Which launchers does it recognise?
Steam, Epic Games, GOG, Battle.net, the EA app, Ubisoft Connect, Xbox and Riot Games. Game started fires for the real game, not the launcher.
Do my hotkeys work while I'm in a game?
Plain shortcuts such as Ctrl+Alt+G keep working. While a protected game runs, hotkeys that need keyboard monitoring, like mouse buttons, sequences, hold and double tap, pause.
Is it free?
Yes. Game triggers, audio switching, power plans, window layouts and the OBS replay buffer are all free. Discord control, HDR, display modes, Wallpaper Engine and Modes come with the one-time Pro upgrade.
