How it works
- It connects to OBS on this PC with no setup, using the port and password from OBS's own WebSocket settings.
- When it can't connect, the reason says what to fix, such as starting OBS or turning on its WebSocket server.
- Inside Wait until it keeps a connection open and wakes the moment OBS connects or disconnects, instead of checking on a timer.
- When true it also reports OBS's version and the scene it shows.
- It only asks OBS questions, so it never changes anything, even in a real run.
Routines that use it
Wait for OBS after launch
Open app starts OBS, Wait until OBS is connected, then OBS: switch scene picks your Starting Soon scene.
Skip stream steps when OBS is closed
In a Gaming Mode routine, use If OBS is connected so the replay buffer only starts when OBS is actually open.
Friendly reminder
If OBS isn't reachable when you press your Go Live hotkey, Show banner reminds you to open it first.
Good to know
- OBS 28 or newer is needed, with Tools, WebSocket Server Settings, Enable WebSocket server ticked.
Questions
- How do I make a routine wait until OBS has started?
- Add Wait until with the OBS is connected condition right after the step that opens OBS. The routine continues as soon as OBS answers.
- Do I need to enter the OBS WebSocket password?
- Usually not. KeyRoutines reads the port and password from OBS's own settings on this PC. A custom computer, port or password can be set in KeyRoutines' OBS settings.
