KeyRoutines

Automation for content creators on Windows: record, file, publish

KeyRoutines takes the busywork out of making videos on Windows: recordings start when you open the game or app, clips and screenshots file themselves, and you hear when a long render is done. It works alongside OBS, your editor and Elgato lights, with every file move undoable.

Sound familiar?

Forgot to hit record

The best take of the week, and OBS was sitting there idle.

Footage everywhere

Clips, captures and screenshots pile up in one folder with timestamps for names.

Babysitting renders

You keep checking the progress bar instead of doing something useful.

Setting up the shot every time

Lights, camera scene, mic level, desktop icons: the same routine before every recording.

Routines to build

Record when the game opens

Game started opens OBS, picks the scene and starts recording; Game stopped stops it and tells you where the file is.

Screenshots sorted by month

New screenshots move into a folder for their month as they're saved.

Render finished ping

When an export stops growing, play a sound and show a notification with an Open button.

Light the shot with the camera

When the webcam turns on, set your Elgato light's brightness and warmth; turn it off after.

Clean desktop for screen recording

Hide desktop icons, minimize everything but the app you're recording and keep the PC awake.

Archive a finished project

Zip the project folder into a dated archive.

Elgato light steps need KeyRoutines Pro; the recording, file and notification routines on this page are free.

Questions

Does it work with editors like Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve?
Yes, through their files. KeyRoutines watches the folders they export to and can open files with any app; it doesn't control the editor itself.
Can I undo file moves?
Yes. Moves, renames, zips and Recycle Bin deletes are recorded, and Undo file moves on the run's page puts them back.
Does it upload my videos?
No. KeyRoutines works on your PC and doesn't upload files anywhere.
What needs Pro?
Elgato light control, OBS event triggers and OBS source, filter and audio steps need Pro. Recording, file sorting and notifications are free.
