How it works
- Choose the device, whether to fire on start or stop, and optionally an app such as Zoom, Teams or Discord.
- It fires once per app and device when that app starts, and again when that same app lets go.
- An app that was already using the device when the routine was turned on doesn't fire.
- The routine gets the device and the app's name and path.
Routines that use it
Meeting setup
When Teams starts using the camera, Set Elgato light turns your key light on and Media control pauses your music.
Back to normal
When Zoom stops using the microphone, Media control resumes playback and Quiet mode turns off.
Stream-safe calls
When Discord starts using the mic, mute your mic source in OBS with OBS: mute or unmute.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Device | The microphone, the camera, or either. |
| On | Fire when an app starts using it, or when it stops. |
| App | Only this app (e.g. Zoom, Teams, Discord). Empty: any app. |
Good to know
- Experimental: it relies on information Windows keeps for its privacy indicator, which isn't officially documented.
- Apps that bypass Windows' normal capture system aren't seen.
Questions
- How do I run something automatically when a Zoom meeting starts?
- Use Mic or camera in use with the app set to Zoom and fire on start. When Zoom turns on your mic or camera, the routine runs.
- Will it fire for a call that's already going?
- No. If the app was already using the device when you turned the routine on, it waits for the next start.
