How it works
- Pick the source from OBS's list and choose mute, unmute, or the other way round.
- Windows' own mute and volume stay as they are; only OBS's mixer changes.
- If the source is already in that state, nothing is sent.
- A source with no audio, like an image, fails with a clear message.
Routines that use it
Push-to-mute on stream
A Hotkey toggles your mic in OBS so viewers can't hear you cough, while Discord still can.
Mute on the break scene
When OBS scene changed fires for Be Right Back, mute Desktop Audio; unmute it when you switch back.
Silence game audio for a call
When Mic or camera in use sees Discord start using your microphone, mute the game capture source in OBS.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |

Good to know
- Needs KeyRoutines Pro.
- Only OBS sources with audio can be muted.
Questions
- Does muting in OBS mute my mic in Discord or other apps?
- No. It only mutes the source inside OBS, so your stream and recording go quiet but other apps still hear you. To mute the device for all apps, use Windows' Mute or unmute step instead.
- Can I toggle mute with one key?
- Yes. Set the step to toggle and trigger it with a hotkey.
