Format a date or timestamp any way you like on Windows

Format date writes a date as text in the layout you choose. It's the step behind dated file names, readable times in messages and timestamps in log files.

How it works

  • Leave the date empty for now, or pass one from an earlier step.
  • Write the layout with letters: yyyy for the year, MM month, dd day, HH hours, mm minutes, ss seconds, dddd weekday and MMMM month name. The default is year-month-day plus hours and minutes.
  • Type iso to get the full standard form, like 2026-10-17T09:30:00+03:00.
  • An advanced option shows the time in UTC instead of this computer's time zone.
