How to send a Discord or Slack message when your PC finishes a task

With KeyRoutines Pro, use App quit for the app doing the job (or Folder changed for its output folder), then Send webhook to Discord or Slack. The webhook address's secret part is kept in KeyRoutines' secrets vault, not in the routine.

KeyRoutines Pro is a one-time $29.99 upgrade for up to 2 PCs.

Steps

  1. 1

    Make a webhook

Create an incoming webhook in your Discord channel or Slack workspace and copy its address.

  2. 2

    Store the secret

In Send webhook, write {key} where the secret part of the address goes and pick the secret under Key.

  3. 3

    Watch the job

Add App quit for the app, such as your renderer, or Folder changed on the export folder.

  4. 4

    Send the message

Add Send webhook with the service set to Discord or Slack and a message like "Render finished".

Tips

  • Send webhook warns you if the address isn't on the service's own site, so a typo doesn't send your message elsewhere.

Questions

Can it send to my phone directly?
Through Discord or Slack, yes: their apps notify your phone. IFTTT and Home Assistant webhooks are supported too.
Is it free?
No. Webhooks and HTTP requests are part of KeyRoutines Pro.
