How to mute Discord's sound when a game starts

Create a KeyRoutines routine with Game started and Game stopped triggers. Started by trigger picks the branch, and Mute an app mutes Discord in the Windows volume mixer while you play and unmutes it when the game closes.

Steps

  1. 1

    Watch your games

Add Game started and Game stopped triggers. Leave the game empty for any game in your launchers, or pick one.

  2. 2

    Branch on the trigger

Add an If with Started by trigger set to Game started.

  3. 3

    Mute Discord

In the If branch, add Mute an app for Discord set to mute.

  4. 4

    Unmute after

In the Else branch, add Mute an app for Discord set to unmute.

Tips

  • This mutes what you hear from Discord. To mute your Discord microphone or deafen, KeyRoutines Pro has Discord: mute and Discord: deafen steps.
  • Game started knows games from Steam, Epic, GOG, Battle.net, EA, Ubisoft Connect, Xbox and Riot, and fires for the game itself, not the launcher.

Questions

Does KeyRoutines touch the game?
No. It changes Discord's slider in the Windows volume mixer. Nothing is sent to the game.
What if I'm in a voice call with friends?
Then use App volume to turn Discord down instead of muting it.
