How it works
- Pick the remembered name and choose what to test: on, off, set or empty.
- On means true, "on", "yes", "1" or any number other than 0; anything else, including a name that was never remembered, counts as off.
- Set means it holds a value, and empty means it holds nothing or empty text.
- By default it looks at this routine's own memory; switch the scope to global to read a value every routine shares.
Routines that use it
One-key away mode
Toggle a value called away on a hotkey, then use Remembered value is inside an If to mute the sound and show the desktop when it's on, and undo both when it's off.
First run of the day
Check whether a remembered date is empty and, if so, open your morning apps with Open app and remember today's date.
Shared night setting
One routine remembers a global night value; others check it before playing a sound with Speak text.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | The remembered value to check ("afk"). |
| Is | On, off, set (has any value) or empty (nothing remembered yet). |
Good to know
- It only sees values written by Remember, Toggle or Set variable with a routine or global scope, not this run's temporary variables.
Questions
- How do I make one hotkey switch something on and off?
- Use Toggle on the hotkey, then an If with Remembered value is on to choose which steps run. The value is kept between runs and restarts.
- Does a value I never set count as off?
- Yes. A name with nothing remembered is treated as off, so your toggle routine works on the very first press.
