How to turn HDR on and off with a hotkey on Windows 11

With KeyRoutines Pro, add a Hotkey trigger and an HDR on/off step set to switch the other way round on your monitor. A Show banner step confirms the change; add a Game started trigger to the same routine if you want HDR on for a particular game.

KeyRoutines Pro is a one-time $29.99 upgrade for up to 2 PCs.

Steps

  1. 1

    Add a Hotkey trigger

Pick a chord such as Ctrl+Alt+H.

  2. 2

    Toggle HDR

Add HDR on/off, choose the monitor (empty means the main monitor) and set Turn to the other way round.

  3. 3

    Confirm it

    Add Show banner, "HDR switched".

  4. 4

    Optional: per game

Add Game started and Game stopped triggers and use HDR on/off set to on and off instead of toggling.

Tips

  • Windows 11 has its own Win+Alt+B shortcut for HDR; this routine adds a choice of monitor and automation.
  • A monitor, cable or driver without HDR support makes the step fail with a clear message rather than silently.

Questions

Can it turn HDR on for just one of my monitors?
Yes. Pick the monitor in the step; the others are left as they are.
Is HDR control free?
HDR on/off is part of KeyRoutines Pro.
