Remove a key from a dictionary inside a Windows routine

Remove dictionary key gives you a copy of a dictionary without one entry. The original stays as it was, so earlier steps' results never change under you.

How it works

  • Pass the dictionary, or JSON text, and the key to remove.
  • It returns the new dictionary, how many entries are left, and whether anything was removed.
  • Removing a key that isn't there is not an error; it just reports nothing was removed.

Routines that use it

Remove an app from your remembered per-app settings and remember the smaller dictionary again.

Drop a field before sending

Questions

Does Remove dictionary key change the original?
No. Every dictionary step returns a new copy and leaves its input untouched.
How do I know if the key was removed?
Check the removed result. It's false when the key wasn't there.
