How it works
- Pick a JPG, PNG or BMP picture saved on this PC.
- Choose one monitor, or leave it empty to use the picture on all of them.
- Optionally set how it fills the screen: fill, fit, stretch, tile, center or span; empty keeps the current fit.
- It outputs the previous wallpaper so you can put it back later.
Routines that use it
Work and play backgrounds
At a time at 09:00 on weekdays sets a calm work wallpaper, and Game started sets a game-themed one.
Theme-matched picture
Right after Dark or light mode, use Dark mode is on to choose a dark or light wallpaper to match.
Random daily background
List files reads a pictures folder, Random number picks one, and Set wallpaper uses it every morning.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Picture | The picture (JPG, PNG or BMP). |
| Monitor | Which monitor. Empty: every monitor. |
| Fitadvanced | How the picture fills the screen. Empty keeps the current fit. |
Good to know
- The picture must be a full path on a local drive; network paths and web addresses are refused so Windows never contacts another machine.
Questions
- How do I set a different wallpaper on each monitor?
- Add one Set wallpaper step per monitor and pick the monitor in each. Leaving the monitor empty uses the same picture everywhere.
- Can I use an animated wallpaper?
- Set wallpaper uses still pictures. For animated wallpapers, the Wallpaper Engine steps in KeyRoutines Pro can show one from your Wallpaper Engine library.
