Cancel a running routine from another routine or hotkey

Cancel routine stops the runs of a routine you pick. It's useful as an emergency hotkey or to end a long job when something else takes priority.

How it works

  • Pick the routine to cancel.
  • It cancels that routine's runs and reports how many it stopped, such as "Cancelled 3 runs of Backup".
  • If you pick the routine it's in, it only stops the other runs unless you turn on the advanced option to stop this run too.
  • If nothing was running, it simply says so.

Routines that use it

Panic key

A hotkey routine cancels a long Repeat routine that's typing text into an app.

Game comes first

When Game started fires, cancel a running backup routine so it doesn't slow the PC.

Only the newest run

At the start of a routine, cancel its own older runs so only the latest one keeps going.

Settings

SettingWhat it does
Include this runadvancedWhen the routine is this one: also stop this run (otherwise only its other runs).

Good to know

  • A routine made with a newer version of KeyRoutines can't be changed by this step.
