How to clear the clipboard automatically a few minutes after copying
Use KeyRoutines' Clipboard changed trigger, then Cancel routine on the routine itself so only the newest copy's timer counts, a Delay of two minutes, and Set clipboard with nothing to empty it.
Steps
- 1
React to copies
Add Clipboard changed, set to text, or to anything.
- 2
Restart the timer on each copy
Add Cancel routine and pick this same routine; it stops the older runs, not this one.
- 3
Wait
Add a Delay of 2 minutes.
- 4
Empty the clipboard
Add Set clipboard with the content set to nothing.
Tips
- This empties the current clipboard; entries already saved in Win+V clipboard history stay there until you clear them.
- Copies that a password manager marks as private don't fire the trigger; those apps usually clear their own copies.
Questions
- Does KeyRoutines see what I copied?
- The trigger is only told what kind of thing was copied, not the text, and run history never shows clipboard contents.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Clipboard changed, Cancel routine, Delay and Set clipboard are free.
