How to change selected text to UPPER or lower case with a hotkey
Make a KeyRoutines routine with a Hotkey trigger, Press keys for Ctrl+C, a short Delay, Get clipboard, Change case, then Set clipboard and Press keys for Ctrl+V. The selection is replaced with the same text in the case you picked.
Steps
- 1
Add a Hotkey trigger
Pick a chord such as Ctrl+Alt+U.
- 2
Copy the selection
Add Press keys with Ctrl+C and a Delay of 200 milliseconds.
- 3
Change the case
Add Get clipboard for text, then Change case set to UPPER CASE.
- 4
Paste it back
Add Set clipboard with the changed text, with the private option on, then Press keys with Ctrl+V.
Tips
- Make a second routine on Ctrl+Alt+L for lower case, or hold Shift for the other version with an If on Key or button held.
- Press keys waits for you to let go of the hotkey's own keys first, so they don't mix into Ctrl+C.
Questions
- Is there Title Case?
- No. Change case offers UPPER CASE, lower case and a capital first letter.
- Does it keep my clipboard history clean?
- With Set clipboard's private option on, the entry stays out of Win+V history and clipboard managers.
