How to screenshot just one window to the clipboard with a hotkey

Use a KeyRoutines Hotkey trigger with Take screenshot set to a window and Save to set to the clipboard. Leave the window empty for the one in front, or pick an app to capture it even when it's behind other windows.

Steps

  1. 1

    Add a Hotkey trigger

Pick a chord such as Ctrl+Alt+PrtScn.

  2. 2

    Capture the window

Add Take screenshot with Of set to a window. Leave Window empty for the one in front.

  3. 3

    Choose where it goes

Set Save to the clipboard, or to a file; empty saves to Pictures\Screenshots with the date and time.

  4. 4

    Confirm

    Add Show banner "Screenshot copied".

Tips

  • Alt+PrintScreen does the front window too; this routine also captures a window behind others and can save to a folder.
  • Screenshots of protected games are blocked by game-safe mode.
