How it works
- A notification counts down first, 60 seconds by default and up to 10 minutes, with a Cancel button; set it to 0 to shut down at once.
- Cancel stops the shutdown and the step still succeeds, marked as cancelled, so the routine can carry on differently.
- Apps can ask to save and Windows waits for an answer, unless you turn on the advanced "close apps even with unsaved work".
Routines that use it

Settings
| Setting | What it does |

| Forceadvanced | Close apps even when they have unsaved work. Off: apps can ask to save, and Windows waits for an answer. |
Good to know
- With the force option on, unsaved work in open apps can be lost.
