Run a routine when your PC wakes from sleep on Windows 11

Woke up starts a routine when the PC comes back from sleep or hibernation. It's the place to fix the things that never quite come back right on their own.

How it works

  • It has no settings and fires each time the PC wakes.
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth come back a few seconds after wake, so start a routine that needs them with a Wait until, for example on Internet available.
  • On a Modern Standby PC, waking is the screen coming back on.
  • The routine receives whether the PC is on AC power and the battery level.

Routines that use it

Fix the headset

Wait until your headset is connected with Audio device connected, then Set default audio device switches to it.

Restart a picky app

Wait until Internet available, then Restart app relaunches your chat client that drops its connection after sleep.

Morning layout

Restore layout "Desk" from your Layouts library and Set brightness to 80%.

Good to know

  • Network and Bluetooth devices may not be ready the instant it fires.

Questions

How do I run something automatically after my PC wakes up?
Create a routine with the Woke up trigger. If a step needs the network or Bluetooth, put a Wait until in front of it.
Why does my routine fail right after waking?
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth take a few seconds to return after wake. Waiting for Internet available or the device first fixes it.
