Start a routine when another routine finishes or fails

Routine event starts a routine when something happens to another routine: it finished, it failed, or it sent a named event. It's how you chain routines and react to problems without editing the original.

How it works

  • Pick a routine, or leave it empty to listen to any routine.
  • Choose finished, failed or a named event; for a named event you can give the name or leave it empty for any.
  • The routine receives the other routine's name, the event name, and its data, or the error details when it failed.
  • A routine never reacts to its own events, so it can't loop on itself.

Routines that use it

Alert on failure

When any routine fails, show a banner and send the error with Send webhook.

Next step after backup

When the backup routine finishes, move the new zip with Move or copy file.

Listen for stream-ready

Start a chat routine when another routine sends stream-ready with Send routine event.

Settings

SettingWhat it does

Good to know

  • Test runs never send events, so they won't start these routines.
