How it works
- Give the event a name, such as stream-ready.
- Optionally attach data; listening routines receive it with their trigger.
- Test runs don't send the event, and say so in the history.
- A dry run still sends it, marked as a dry run, so you can follow the chain safely.
Routines that use it
Stream ready
After OBS: switch scene and Set volume, send stream-ready so a separate routine posts with Send webhook.
Backup done
When Zip files finishes, send backup-done with the file name as data for a routine that moves it.
Meeting started
When Mic or camera in use fires, send meeting-start so lighting and sound routines react on their own.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | The event's name ("stream-ready"). Routines listen for it with "Routine event". |
| Dataadvanced | Anything to pass along; listeners read it as trigger.data. |
Good to know
- The event needs a name; an empty one fails.
Questions
- How do I start one routine from another in KeyRoutines?
- Either call it directly with Run routine, or send an event with Send routine event and let the other routine listen for it with Routine event.
- Can I send data with a routine event?
- Yes. Anything you put in the data field reaches the listening routine along with the trigger.
