Search Google, YouTube or Wikipedia from any routine

Web search opens a search for a phrase on the engine you choose. Combined with the clipboard, it gives you a one-key 'search what I copied' on any site.

How it works

  • Type the words, or use a value from an earlier step such as the clipboard.
  • Pick Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, YouTube, Wikipedia, GitHub, Reddit or the Steam store, or give your own search address with {query} where the words go.
  • Results open in your default browser, or a chosen browser and profile, as a new tab or a new window.
  • KeyRoutines itself sends nothing to the search engine; the browser does the search.

Routines that use it

Search the clipboard

A Hotkey runs Get clipboard and Web search looks the copied text up on Google.

Game guide lookup

Ask for input asks what you are stuck on, and Web search finds it on YouTube in a new window.

Your own site's search

Use a custom address like your company wiki's search page with {query} to search it from a key.

Questions

Can I search the text I just copied with one key?
Yes. Make a Hotkey routine with Get clipboard followed by Web search using the clipboard text. It opens the results straight away.
Can I use a search engine that isn't listed?
Yes. Choose custom and paste the site's search address with {query} where the words should go.
