How to change settings automatically on your office Wi-Fi
Use KeyRoutines' Wi-Fi network joined or left trigger for your office network. An If with On Wi-Fi network decides: at the office, Mute or unmute silences the speakers and Open app starts work apps; elsewhere, sound comes back and Close app closes them.
Steps
- 1
Watch the network
Add Wi-Fi network joined or left, set to joined, with your office network's name exactly as Windows shows it.
- 2
Add the way home
Add the same trigger set to left, so the routine runs when you leave the office network.
- 3
At the office
Add an If with On Wi-Fi network for the office: Mute or unmute mutes the master output and Open app starts Teams and Outlook.
- 4
Elsewhere
In the Else branch, unmute and Close app the work apps if you like.
Tips
- Recent Windows 11 versions only tell desktop apps Wi-Fi names when location access is on; KeyRoutines shows the trigger as Waiting until it is.
Questions
- Can it use a VPN instead?
- Yes. KeyRoutines has a VPN connected or disconnected trigger and a VPN connected condition.
- Does it work on Ethernet?
- Wi-Fi triggers need Wi-Fi. On a wired desk, use Host reachable to check for a server only your office network can see.
