How to switch keyboard layout automatically for one app

Use KeyRoutines' App focused trigger twice for the app: once when it comes to the front and once when it leaves. Started by trigger picks the branch, and Switch keyboard layout picks the input language for that app and switches back afterwards.

Steps

  1. 1

    Watch the app

Add App focused for the app set to fire when it comes to the front, and another set to when it leaves.

  2. 2

    Branch on the trigger

Add an If with Started by trigger set to the comes-to-the-front trigger.

  3. 3

    Switch layout

Add Switch keyboard layout with the language you type in that app, such as Arabic (101).

  4. 4

    Switch back

In the Else branch, add Switch keyboard layout with your usual one, such as English.

Tips

  • Windows has a "Let me use a different input method for each app window" setting that remembers your last choice per window; this routine sets a fixed layout per app instead.

Questions
