Check if an anti-cheat protected game is running on your PC

Protected game running is true while a game protected by anti-cheat is running, which is when KeyRoutines' game-safe mode is active. Use it to skip steps that would be refused anyway, or to hold back a banner until you stop playing.

How it works

  • Optionally limit it to when the protected game is the app in front.
  • It reads KeyRoutines' own game-safe status, which never opens the game's process or touches its memory, so asking costs nothing.
  • Game-safe recognises a built-in list of protected titles, plus unknown games with an Easy Anti-Cheat or BattlEye folder next to them.
  • In a Wait until, it continues as soon as the game-safe status changes, for example when the game closes.

Routines that use it

Hold reminders until later

Wait until no protected game is running, then Show banner with the reminder you scheduled during your match.

Skip keyboard steps

Before Press keys sends a shortcut to another app, check that no protected game is in front so the step isn't refused.

Post-session cleanup

After Game stopped, check no other protected game is still open before Wallpaper Engine playback starts wallpapers again.

Good to know

  • Game-safe keeps KeyRoutines away from protected games, but it can't stop an anti-cheat from deciding to block KeyRoutines itself.

Questions

Is KeyRoutines safe to run with anti-cheat games?
KeyRoutines is built to stay away from protected games: it never injects input into them, reads their screen or opens their process. It still can't promise how a given anti-cheat treats other software on your PC.
Which anti-cheat systems are detected?
Game-safe covers a built-in list of titles using Easy Anti-Cheat, BattlEye, Vanguard, Ricochet and FACEIT, plus games with an Easy Anti-Cheat or BattlEye folder beside them.
