How to make routines skip key presses while an anti-cheat game runs

Add an If with Protected game running in front of any Press keys step. When a game with anti-cheat such as Easy Anti-Cheat, BattlEye or Vanguard is running, the routine shows a notification instead of sending keys, and runs normally the rest of the time.

Steps

  1. 1

    Start from your usual trigger

For example a Hotkey that presses a shortcut in a desktop app.

  2. 2

    Check game-safe

Add an If with Protected game running. Turn on its option to only count the game when it's the app in front, if keys to background apps are fine for you.

  3. 3

    Skip and say so

In the If branch, add Show notification with "Skipped: a protected game is running".

  4. 4

    Send the keys otherwise

Put Press keys in the Else branch, with the target app picked.

Tips

  • Game-safe never opens the game's process or reads its memory; the check reads KeyRoutines' own status, so it costs nothing.
  • While a protected game runs, hotkeys that need keyboard monitoring (sequences, hold, double tap, mouse buttons) pause; plain shortcuts like Ctrl+Alt+M keep working.

Questions

Will KeyRoutines ever send keys into my game?
No. Press keys, Type text and Mouse are refused while a protected game is in front, and KeyRoutines isn't built to send input to games at all.
Can anti-cheat still flag KeyRoutines?
Game-safe keeps KeyRoutines away from protected games, but it can't control how a given anti-cheat treats other software on your PC.
