How it works
- A notification counts down first, 60 seconds by default and up to 10 minutes, with a Cancel button; 0 sleeps at once.
- Cancel stops it, and the step reports it was cancelled so the routine can react.
- On a Modern Standby PC without classic sleep, sleeping means the screen goes off, which is how Windows sleeps on those PCs.
- If the PC can't sleep at all, the step fails before the countdown starts.
Routines that use it
Good night key
A hotkey runs Close app on your work tools, pauses music with Media control and puts the PC to sleep.
Sleep after the show
When your video player quits late in the evening, checked with Time and day, Sleep counts down two minutes.
Idle at night
When Idle fires after 20 minutes, Sleep, but only if Full-screen app in front says nothing is playing.

Good to know
- On Modern Standby PCs, sleep works the way Windows does it there: the screen turns off and the PC enters its low-power state.
Questions
- How do I put my PC to sleep with a keyboard shortcut?
- Make a routine with a Hotkey trigger and a Sleep step. Set the countdown to 0 if you want it to sleep immediately.
- Can a routine run when the PC wakes up again?
- Yes, with the Woke up trigger. It fires once the PC is back from sleep.
