Run a routine when you plug in or unplug the laptop charger

Plugged in or unplugged starts a routine when the charger is connected, removed, or either. It's the trigger for laptops that should behave differently at the desk and on the go.

How it works

  • Choose unplugged, plugged in, or either.
  • It follows Windows' power notifications, so there's no polling.
  • The routine receives whether the PC is now on AC power and the battery percentage.

Routines that use it

Desk mode

When plugged in, Set power plan to High performance and Open app starts your cloud sync.

On-the-go mode

When unplugged, Set power mode to best power efficiency, Set brightness to 60% and close the sync tool with Close app.

Charging notice

When plugged in, Show banner shows the battery percentage from the trigger.

Questions

How do I change settings automatically when I unplug my laptop?
Create a routine with Plugged in or unplugged set to unplugged, and add steps like Set power plan or Set brightness. A second routine set to plugged in can switch them back.
Can one routine handle both plugging in and unplugging?
Yes. Choose "either" and use an If with Plugged in or on battery to pick the steps.
