Run a routine when you come back to your PC after a break

Back at the PC starts a routine when you return after being away for at least the time you set. It's the welcome-back counterpart of the Idle trigger.

How it works

  • Set the minimum time away, at least one minute, so short pauses don't count.
  • It fires on your first keyboard or mouse input after that time; input that KeyRoutines sends doesn't count.
  • The routine receives how long you were away, so steps can depend on it.

Routines that use it

Resume the music

After 10 minutes away, Media control resumes your playlist when you sit back down.

Welcome back summary

After an hour away, Show banner shows how long you were gone and Focus window brings your editor forward.

Undo away mode

Pairs with an Idle routine that ran Show desktop: on return, Restore layout puts your windows back.

Questions

Can my PC do something when I come back from a break?
Yes. The Back at the PC trigger runs a routine on your first input after the time away you set.
Is this the same as PC unlocked?
No. PC unlocked fires when you unlock the lock screen; Back at the PC fires on your first input after being away, locked or not.
