How it works
- Describe the window by its app, program, title or class.
- It fires once per window, when a new window first matches within ten seconds of appearing, because many apps set their title a moment after the window shows up.
- Only top-level windows count, and nothing is polled: KeyRoutines listens for Windows' own window events.
- The routine receives the new window, its title and program, ready for Move and resize or Focus window.
Routines that use it
Put pop-ups in their place
When a Picture-in-Picture window opens, Move and resize parks it in the bottom-right corner of your second monitor, always on top.
Tidy chat windows
When a new chat window opens, Move and resize snaps it to the right third of the screen.
Remind on a document
When a window with "Timesheet" in its title opens, Show banner reminds you of the submission deadline.

Good to know
- Only top-level windows are watched, not panels or tabs inside a window.
Questions
- How do I make a window always open in the same place on Windows 11?
- Create a routine with Window opened for that window and a Move and resize step. Each time it opens, it is moved to your chosen monitor and position.
- Why does it wait a few seconds for some windows?
- Many apps show a window first and set its title shortly after. KeyRoutines gives a new window up to ten seconds to start matching your description.
