How to keep your PC awake with a hotkey on Windows 11

Make a KeyRoutines routine with a Hotkey trigger, a Toggle step and an If on Remembered value is. When it's on, Keep awake holds the PC and screen awake for a set time; when it's off, Keep awake set to stop ends it, and Show banner tells you which.

Steps

  1. 1

Add a Hotkey trigger and Toggle

Pick a chord such as Ctrl+Alt+K, then add Toggle for a value named awake.

  2. 2

    Check the value

Add an If with Remembered value is awake on.

  3. 3

    Stay awake

In the If branch, add Keep awake for 2 hours with the screen option on, and Show banner "Staying awake".

  4. 4

    Let it sleep

In the Else branch, add Keep awake set to stop, and Show banner "Sleep allowed".

Tips

  • Keep awake is one ordinary Windows power request; it ends if KeyRoutines closes, so nothing is left behind.
  • Turn the screen option off if only downloads need the PC awake.
