How to open several apps and websites with one hotkey

Create a KeyRoutines routine with a Hotkey trigger, an Open app step per app with If running set to reuse, an Open URLs step for your websites, and Open file or folder for documents. One key opens all of it, and nothing opens twice.

Steps

  1. 1

    Add a Hotkey trigger

Pick a chord such as Ctrl+Alt+O.

  2. 2

    Open the apps

Add Open app for each app with If running set to reuse, so running apps are left as they are.

  3. 3

    Open the websites

Add Open URLs with all your pages, pick the browser and profile, and turn on new window so they open together.

  4. 4

    Open files and folders

Add Open file or folder for a document or project folder you always need.

Tips

  • Use At the same time to open the apps in parallel if you don't care about their order.
  • Add Apply layout at the end to arrange everything once it's open.

Questions

Can I pick a browser profile, like my work profile?
Yes. Open URLs lets you choose the browser and profile; empty means your default browser.
Can I start it from the tray instead of a key?
Yes. Add the Run manually trigger and show the routine in the tray menu's favourites.
