How to minimize every window except one app with a hotkey

Use a KeyRoutines Hotkey trigger with a Show desktop step and list the apps to leave open under Except. Every other window is minimized, so the app you're focused on stays visible.

Steps

  1. 1

    Add a Hotkey trigger

Pick a chord, for example Ctrl+Alt+D.

  2. 2

    Remember where things were

Add Remember layout first, and keep its layout with Remember, so you can bring everything back later.

  3. 3

    Clear the screen

Add Show desktop and list the apps to keep under Except, for example Zoom and OneNote.

Tips

  • Bring windows back with a second hotkey that runs Restore layout from the remembered layout.

Questions

Does it close the apps?
No. Show desktop only minimizes them; nothing is closed.
Can I keep a window by title rather than app?
Except takes apps. To keep one window of an app with several, minimize the others with Window state instead.
