How to move a window to your other monitor with a hotkey

Make a KeyRoutines routine with a Hotkey trigger and Get window info for the window in front. An If with Compare values checks which monitor it's on, and Move and resize puts it on the other one, keeping its relative position.

Steps

  1. 1

    Add a Hotkey trigger

Pick a chord such as Ctrl+Alt+Right.

  2. 2

    Read the window

Add Get window info set to the window in front.

  3. 3

    Check its monitor

Add an If with Compare values: the monitor from Get window info equals your main monitor.

  4. 4

    Move it

In the If branch, add Move and resize for that window onto the second monitor; in the Else branch, onto the main one. Leave the area empty to keep its relative place.

Tips

  • Move and resize handles invisible borders and monitors with different scaling, and checks the result.
  • Windows' own Win+Shift+Arrow does a similar move; a routine lets you also resize or maximize it on arrival.

Questions

Does it work with three monitors?
Yes. Add another Compare values branch for each monitor to make a cycle.
Is it free?
Yes. All of these blocks are free.
