How to silence Slack, Teams and other pings while you're live
With KeyRoutines Pro, add two OBS stream started or stopped triggers, one for started and one for stopped, and an If on Started by trigger. Going live runs Mute an app for each chat app and turns on Quiet mode; going offline unmutes them and turns Quiet mode off.
KeyRoutines Pro is a one-time $29.99 upgrade for up to 2 PCs.
Steps
- 1
Add both stream triggers
Add OBS stream started or stopped twice: once for started, once for stopped.
- 2
Branch
Add an If with Started by trigger set to the started trigger.
- 3
Mute the apps
In the If branch, add Mute an app set to mute for Slack, Teams and Outlook, and Quiet mode set to on.
- 4
Unmute after
In the Else branch, add the same Mute an app steps set to unmute, and Quiet mode set to off.
Tips
- Mute an app silences the app's sound everywhere it plays, but the app's pop-up notifications can still show; turn on Windows' Do not disturb for those.
- Quiet mode keeps KeyRoutines' own banners and sounds off your stream.
Questions
- Does Quiet mode turn on Windows' Do not disturb?
- No. Quiet mode only quiets KeyRoutines itself; Windows' Do not disturb is a separate Windows setting.
- Can I do this without Pro?
- Yes, with a Hotkey trigger instead of the OBS trigger, pressed when you go live; Mute an app and Quiet mode are free.
