How it works
- Write the text and include values from the routine if you like; new lines press Enter.
- Typing sends each character as a Unicode keystroke, so it works with any keyboard layout, including Arabic and emoji.
- Pasting is faster for long text: it pastes the whole thing, puts your own clipboard back afterwards, and keeps the pasted text out of clipboard history.
- Like Press keys, it waits for you to release the hotkey's modifier keys and stops if the window in front changes.
Routines that use it
Email sign-off
A Hotkey types your name, title and phone number into the email you are writing.
Today's date
Format date turns today into 2026-11-01 style text and Type text writes it into a spreadsheet cell.
Search what you copied
Get clipboard reads a tracking number, then Focus window brings the shipping site forward and Type text enters it.

Good to know
- Refused while a game protected by anti-cheat is in front.
- Apps running as administrator can't receive typed text from KeyRoutines.
Questions
- Should I type or paste?
- Typing works everywhere keystrokes do and is fine for short text. Pasting is much faster for long text and restores your clipboard afterwards.
- Can it type in other languages?
- Yes. Characters are sent as Unicode, so Arabic, accented letters and emoji come out right whatever keyboard layout is active.
