KeyRoutines
TriggerFreetrigger.schedule.interval

Run a routine every few minutes or hours on Windows 11

Every … starts a routine on a fixed interval, from once a minute to once every seven days. It suits regular jobs such as backups, check-ins and tidy-ups that should keep their rhythm.

How it works

  • Set how often it runs, between 1 minute and 7 days.
  • The first run comes one interval after the trigger is turned on, and runs stay on that same rhythm even across restarts, so 'every 6 hours' still happens if the PC restarts every 4.
  • If a run was due while KeyRoutines wasn't running or the PC was asleep, choose to skip it or run it once as soon as possible.
  • Intervals count real time, so an hourly routine still runs every 60 minutes when the clocks change.
  • All schedules share one timer, so many interval routines cost no more than one.

Questions

How do I run something every hour on Windows without Task Scheduler?
Use the Every … trigger set to 1 hour in a KeyRoutines routine. It keeps its rhythm across restarts and lets you decide what happens to runs missed during sleep.
Will it run missed jobs after the PC wakes up?
Only if you choose to. The missed-run option either skips them or runs once as soon as possible, never once per missed slot.
