How it works
- Describe the window by its app, program, title or class; if you set a title, the new title must match it.
- It only fires when the text really changed, not when Windows redraws the title for an icon or flash.
- A window has to have been seen before, so a brand-new window doesn't fire it (use Window opened for that).
- The routine gets both the new title and the previous one.
Routines that use it
Now-playing log
When your music player's title changes, Add text to file writes the new song title with the time.
Scene per project
When your editor's title switches to a file in your stream project, OBS: switch scene changes to the coding scene.
Know when a render finishes
When your render app's title contains "Done", Speak text announces it so you can come back.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Window | The window to watch: its app, program, title or class. |
Good to know
- It only sees what the app puts in its title; apps that don't show the song, tab or file there can't be followed this way.
Questions
- Can a routine react when the song changes in my music app?
- Yes, if the app shows the song in its window title. Watch that window with Window title changed and use the new title in later steps.
- Why didn't it fire when the window first opened?
- It only reacts to changes in windows it has already seen. Use Window opened to react to the window appearing.
