How to post to Discord automatically when you go live in OBS

With KeyRoutines Pro, add the OBS stream started or stopped trigger set to started, then Send webhook with Discord as the service, your channel's webhook address and a message with your stream link. Show notification confirms it was sent.

KeyRoutines Pro is a one-time $29.99 upgrade for up to 2 PCs.

Steps

  1. 1

    Create a Discord webhook

In your Discord server, open the channel's settings, Integrations, Webhooks, and copy a new webhook's address.

  2. 2

    React to going live

Add OBS stream started or stopped, set to fire when the stream starts.

  3. 3

    Post the message

Add Send webhook, choose Discord, paste the address and write the message, such as "Live now: " and your channel link.

  4. 4

    Keep the secret safe

Put the secret part of the address in the vault and write {key} where it goes, so it isn't saved in the routine.

  5. 5

    Confirm

Add Show notification with "Posted to Discord".

Tips

  • Discord messages are sent without @everyone or role pings, so a test doesn't wake your whole server.
  • Send webhook fails if Discord doesn't accept the message, so you'll know it didn't arrive.

Questions

Does it work with Slack too?
Yes. Send webhook also supports Slack, Home Assistant, IFTTT and any other webhook address.
Do I need Pro?
