How to hibernate your PC when it's left idle at night
Create a KeyRoutines routine with an Idle trigger set to 60 minutes and an If with Time and day for night hours. A second If with App is running stops the routine when something like Steam is still busy; otherwise Hibernate saves everything and powers down after a countdown.
Steps
- 1
Wait for an idle hour
Add Idle set to 60 minutes.
- 2
Only at night
Add an If with Time and day from 00:00 to 07:00 every day; put the next steps inside it.
- 3
Leave busy apps alone
Add an If with App is running for Steam or your download app, with Stop routine inside it.
- 4
Hibernate
Add Hibernate with a 60-second countdown so you can cancel if you're still there.
Tips
- Hibernate needs hibernation turned on in Windows' power options; the step tells you if it's off.
- Idle doesn't count time while a full-screen app is in front by default, so a film left playing won't trigger it.
Questions
- Why hibernate instead of sleep?
- Hibernate uses no power at all and still brings your apps back. Swap in Sleep if you prefer.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Every block here is free.
