How to put Discord on your second monitor when a game starts

Create a KeyRoutines routine with a Game started trigger, Open app for Discord set to reuse a running copy, a Wait until with App is ready, and Move and resize to put Discord on your second monitor. The window is placed without being brought to the front, so the game keeps focus.

Steps

  1. 1

    Start from any game

Add a Game started trigger and leave the game empty to react to every game in your launchers, or pick one.

  2. 2

    Make sure Discord is open

Add Open app for Discord with "If it's already open" set to leave it alone.

  3. 3

    Wait for the real window

Add a Wait until with App is ready for Discord, so the placement doesn't hit the update window.

  4. 4

    Place it

Add Move and resize, choose the second monitor and the area, such as the left half or the whole screen.

Tips

  • Move and resize never brings a window to the front, and a protected game's own windows are never moved.
  • Add a second Move and resize for a browser with your guide or a stats page.

Questions

Will the game minimize when Discord moves?
No. Move and resize places windows without activating them, so the game stays in front.
Is it free?
Yes. Game started, Open app, App is ready and Move and resize are all free.
