How to get a spoken reminder every hour while you're gaming

Make a KeyRoutines routine with a Game started trigger and a Repeat. Each round waits an hour with Delay, then an If with App is running checks the game is still open: if it is, Speak text tells you how long you've played; if not, Stop repeating ends the loop.

Steps

  1. 1

    Start with the game

Add Game started and pick the game, or leave it empty for any game.

  2. 2

    Loop for the session

Add a Repeat with, for example, 12 rounds and a round counter.

  3. 3

    Wait an hour

Inside the Repeat, add a Delay of 60 minutes.

  4. 4

    Check and speak

Add an If with App is running for the game. In the If branch, Speak text says "You've been playing for" the round number and "hours". In the Else branch, add Stop repeating.

Tips

  • Pick your headset as Speak text's device so the reminder isn't picked up by your stream's desktop audio.
  • If you give the routine a time limit, make it longer than the whole session.

Questions

Will it pop up over my game?
No. Speak text is only audio, so nothing is drawn over the game.
Can it close the game after three hours?
It can, with Close app, which asks the game to close like clicking its X. Protected games only ever get that polite request.
