How to make a presentation mode that undoes itself after
With KeyRoutines Pro, build the routine as a Mode: in When it turns on, add Show or hide desktop icons, Mute an app for Slack and Teams, Quiet mode and Keep awake. Turning the mode off puts back what it changed, and a small second routine can turn it on with Turn mode on when PowerPoint starts.
KeyRoutines Pro is a one-time $29.99 upgrade for up to 2 PCs.
Steps
- 1
Make it a Mode
Create a routine and add the When it turns on container, so KeyRoutines remembers what it changes.
- 2
Clean up the screen
Add Show or hide desktop icons set to hide.
- 3
Silence interruptions
Add Mute an app for Slack and Teams, and Quiet mode set to on.
- 4
Keep the screen on
Add Keep awake with the screen kept on too.
- 5
Turn it on with PowerPoint
In a second routine, add App launched for PowerPoint and Turn mode on; set the mode to turn off when PowerPoint closes.
Tips
- A Mode only puts back what its steps actually changed, so icons you'd already hidden stay hidden.
- The routine's hotkey toggles the mode on and off as well.
Questions
- Can I do this without Pro?
- Yes, as a toggle: an If on a remembered value with steps both ways, like the free AFK mode template. A Mode works out the undo for you.
- Can two modes clash?
- Modes in the same set turn each other off, each putting back its own changes first.
