How to save an OBS replay clip with a hotkey and hear it worked
Make a KeyRoutines routine with a Hotkey trigger and OBS: record / stream / replay set to save the replay buffer, with its error setting on continue. An If with Step succeeded then plays a Windows sound for a saved clip, or a different one if the save failed.
Steps
- 1
Add a Hotkey trigger
Pick a plain chord such as Ctrl+Alt+F10.
- 2
Save the clip
Add OBS: record / stream / replay, choose the replay buffer and save. Set the step to continue on error.
- 3
Check it worked
Add an If with Step succeeded and pick the save step.
- 4
Hear the result
Add Play sound with a short sound in the If branch and a different one, such as Exclamation, in the Else branch, both on your headset.
Tips
- Saving needs the replay buffer turned on in OBS's Output settings and already running.
- While a protected game runs, mouse-button and double-tap hotkeys pause; plain chords like Ctrl+Alt+F10 keep working.
Questions
- Can it tell me where the clip went?
- Yes. The step outputs the saved file's path, which you can show with Show notification.
- What's different from the Pro replay saved trigger?
- This routine reacts to your own key. The Pro OBS replay saved trigger reacts to every save, including OBS's own hotkey.
