Move, copy, rename and tidy files
Sort Downloads, rename in bulk, zip and unzip, watch folders, with the Recycle Bin by default and an undo journal.
Triggers (2)
Download finished
Download finished starts a routine when a new file has completely downloaded. It waits until the browser is really done, so your steps never grab a half-written file.
Folder changed
Folder changed starts a routine when something happens to files in a folder. It's the trigger for scan folders, screenshot folders, synced folders and anything else that fills up over time.
Steps (15)
Add text to file
Add text to file writes new text at the end of a text file without touching what is already there. It is the easy way to keep a running log, a journal entry per day, or a list of things a routine has handled.
Get file info
Get file info reads the details of one file or folder and hands them to the rest of your routine. It is handy when a later step needs the extension, the size or the date a file last changed.
List files
List files collects the files in a folder that match your filters and gives you the list to work with. It is usually paired with For each so a routine can deal with many files one at a time.
Move or copy file
Move or copy file puts a file or folder somewhere else, either moving it or leaving the original and making a copy. It is the workhorse behind download sorting, archiving and backup routines.
Open file or folder
Open file or folder opens something on your PC as part of a routine. Use it to bring up today's notes, a project folder, or the file a trigger just found.
Read JSON value
Read JSON value opens a JSON file and picks out a single value by its path, or the whole document if you leave the path empty. It lets a routine use settings you keep in a small config file.
Read text file
Read text file loads what is written in a text file so later steps can use it. People use it to check a log for a word, show a note on screen, or work through a list one line at a time.
Delete to Recycle Bin
Delete to Recycle Bin removes one item, or every item in a folder that matches a name pattern, by putting it in the Recycle Bin. It is the safe way to automate clean-ups because nothing is gone for good.
Rename file
Rename file changes a file or folder's name without moving it. You can write a whole new name, or find and replace part of the current one.
Unzip file
Unzip file extracts a zip archive into a folder. Leave the destination empty and it creates a folder named after the zip, right next to it.
Write JSON value
Write JSON value sets one value inside a JSON file and leaves the rest of the document as it was. Use it to save a counter, a last-run date, or a setting another tool reads.
Write text file
Write text file saves text into a file. It can replace whatever the file held, or only write when the file doesn't exist yet so nothing is ever overwritten.
Zip files
Zip files puts several files and folders into a single zip archive. It suits quick backups, sharing a batch of files, or archiving a finished project.
Create folder
Create folder makes a folder, including any folders above it that don't exist yet. It is often the first step before moving or saving files into a dated location.
Organize folder
Organize folder tidies a folder by moving its files into subfolders. It is the one-step answer to a cluttered Downloads folder or Desktop.
