Tasker for Windows: profiles and tasks for your PC
Tasker is an Android app, and there's no Windows version. If you like Tasker's profiles and tasks, KeyRoutines works on the same idea on a Windows PC: a trigger such as an app opening, a Wi-Fi network, the charger or a device connecting starts a routine of steps. Modes (Pro) even undo themselves when turned off, a bit like a Tasker profile's exit task.

What's different
- Tasker runs on your phone with phone contexts like location, calls, SMS and sensors. KeyRoutines runs on a Windows PC and has none of those.
- Tasker has a large plugin ecosystem. KeyRoutines has no third-party plugins in 1.0.
- Tasker's Scenes let you design your own screens. KeyRoutines offers notifications, banners and question dialogs, not custom layouts.
- Tasker is a paid Android app. KeyRoutines is free, with an optional one-time Pro upgrade for Modes, scripts and HTTP.
Moving over
- 1
Think in triggers and steps
Each Tasker profile becomes a routine: pick the trigger that matches the context, then add the task's actions as steps.
- 2
Use conditions for state contexts
Where a profile needed two contexts at once, use one as the trigger and the other as a condition, such as App launched only if On Wi-Fi network.
- 3
Use a Mode for profiles with exit tasks
With Pro, make the changes a Mode and turn it off when the context ends; KeyRoutines restores what it changed.
Questions
- Is there a Tasker for Windows?
- No. Tasker is an Android app. KeyRoutines is a Windows app built on a similar trigger-and-steps idea.
- Can my phone running Tasker start a routine on my PC?
- Not directly. The webhook trigger (Pro) only accepts calls from the PC itself.
- Can I import Tasker profiles?
- No. You rebuild them as routines.
- Does KeyRoutines use Tasker's variable syntax?
- No. Earlier steps' outputs show up as chips you drop into fields, and you name your own variables with Set variable or Remember.
Tasker is a trademark of its owner. KeyRoutines is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
